my girls getaway was a success. i didn't really think about blogging about it because we didn't do much. however a couple of my friends asked me when i was going to post about it, so here it is.
it was a lot of fun - a lot of relaxing and doing nothing. i left on wednesday night to head to my friend, j's house. we went to wal-mart to buy all the groceries we needed. we planned to leave on thursday morning and drive straight to branson. it's about a 3 1/2 hour trip from her house.
we noticed on the news it was supposed to rain on thursday but not the rest of the weekend. as we were leaving the driveway, it was raining. after we bought breakfast from chick-fil-a we were on our way. the rain stayed with us the entire trip. there were times it was just sprinkling but there were times it was pretty heavy. it was quite random. in addition, once we hit missouri random fog would roll in. it seems to happen when we were specifically trying to find a certain exit or the next highway we were supposed to be on.
we decided since we had to drive through branson, we would stop on our in at the outlet malls. we went to the coach outlet (didn't buy anything), gap outlet, children's place, old navy outlet, and a couple of other places. we each bought a couple of things. it was fun to get to shop.
after our shopping we headed to our condo. we had mapquested the directions, but they were wrong. after about 30 minutes of looking for where we supposed to be and calling the condo man, we found it. we stayed in kimberling city. the condo was nice. the only thing that was wrong was the water (for the first day) had a strong sulphurous (like rotten eggs) smell to it. once it ran, it was okay. the condo had two rooms with nice king size beds, a huge tv, and a washer/dryer. right outside our patio you could see the lake and the kimberling city bridge. we must have been by the fire department because we heard/saw several sirens and trucks go across the bridge.
the first night, we were exhausted from the drive. j drove the whole way. driving in the rain can make a trip seem longer than it actually is. we were ready to go to bed by almost 8 p.m.
that friday morning i woke up at 7:00 a.m., didn't get out of bed, but i did wake up that early. it got easier to sleep in. on sunday morning i slept until 10 a.m. (9 a.m. if you count daylight savings). we watched movies and took 2 hour naps. what more is there? we did leave once to go eat lunch at the olive garden on saturday afternoon. i watched a couple of episodes of project runway and top chef. even with a whole weekend to watch cable tv and no kids to worry about, i decided i'm not missing much by not having cable. couldn't convince myself the $40/month or how much ever it is is worth it.
so really that's it. i had some great late night girl conversations - always fun. i had a crazy dream one night that i had lost my kids in a store and i had to call the officer to check on the kids. i did all my laundry before i came home so i wouldn't have to come home to do the laundry. you know how it is. just nice to unpack and not have a huge pile of dirty laundry. overall it was a great, relaxing trip!
here's some pictures of the condo. i forgot to take many more since we didn't do anything.
