Easter Tour

Today we went to my mom's church for an Easter tour.  Her church puts on the self-guided tour on Good Friday each year.  It is free to attend.  It goes from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.

When you arrive, you stop at a table and pick up a booklet to read.  There are booklets for adults and children.  There were coloring booklets for the small children.

The first station was a hand washing station.  The hand washing symbolized how the priest had to completely clean before they went before God.

The next station was the last supper.  While sitting in chairs in front of the table, we read about the last supper.  There was a description of what happened at the last supper and what they ate.  There were sample of the unleavened bread to eat.  The bowl and towel where there to remind us how Jesus washed his disciples feet.

The next table had 30 pieces of silver symbolizing what Judas accepted as payment to betray Jesus.

Next you would walk through the garden where Jesus prayed.  This was my son's favorite sections.  With each station you would read scriptures, a description of what happened, questions to ask your children or self, and then a prayer.

The next table held some wood to symbolize the cross Jesus had to carry to Skull Hill.

The next table held the crown of thorns, huge nails and a mallet.
The nails were really big and it's hard to really comprehend what Jesus went through for me.

Next we headed to the temple where the curtain was torn in two because of Jesus had died.  You could enter in through the curtain and see the temple inside.

The next to last station was a table filled with incense, frankincense, myrrh, and hyssop.  All the spices that were used on Jesus when he was buried in the tomb.  It was very fragrant.

The very last station was neat.  There was a table set us with hammers, nails, and little black pieces of paper.  You wrote down your sins that Jesus died for and nailed them to a cross.  Of course my son was worried he wouldn't be able to get the nail into the cross, but the wood was soft.

It was such a neat way to tell the story of the sacrifice of Jesus for our sins.  He died for each one of us.  No one person worse or better than another.  Each of us a sinner.  He died for us.

Isaiah 52:5
 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Then three day later, he rose again.

Matthew  20:18-19
"Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise again."

amos 4:13

He who forms the mountains,
creates the wind,
and reveals his thoughts to man,
he who turns dawn to darkness,
and treads the high places of the earth--
the LORD God Almighty is his name.

this was a page from the vacation photobook. i loved this verse with these pictures. the first picture is by taylor lake (i think) and the second picture is of a storm that was moving in on us as we were coming down a mountainside.

Psalms 121

read this today, loved it, needed to hear it, and wanted to share it.

Psalms 121

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From whence shall my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun will not smite you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord will protect you from all evil;
He will keep your soul.
The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in
From this time forth and forever.

hallway decorations

we re-painted our house last year and we have still yet to get thing hung on the wall. i usually don't hang pictures or decorations on the wall unless i have it just like i want it. don't even ask about the kids room. of course, they have decorated their rooms by themselves with pictures they've drawn.

anyway, i have been waiting and waiting on these wall quotes i ordered. i have gotten the wrong quote twice, but the lady let me keep them because she's sent the wrong
one. this is one of the quotes:

III John 1:4
I have no greater joy than to hear my children are walking in the Truth.

isn't that a great verse and every mother's desire?

i have a stretch of hallway that needed something on it. i used to have frames with
multiple openings hanging on the wall, but i wanted to go with something different. so i used the wall quote and hung some pictures to with it. i found the pictures i wanted to use but ended up getting larger picture frames at michaels. i still have to enlarge the pictures but couldn't wait to get it up on the wall to see what it would look like.

now if it looks suspiciously like the bathroom wall, don't be surprised. it's me. i like everything geometrically aligned and i'm not very adventurous.

so here it is:
here are the pictures i used a little closer:

what do you think?

the grace of God

i have seen this on a church sign before. i saw it again today and it still resonated as strongly with me today as it did the first time i saw it.

The will of God will never lead you where the grace of God does not provide for you.

He knows where you are going, what you are feeling, what you are going through. He will provide everything you need at the moment you need it (even though it may not be what you think you need).

II Corinthians 12: 9,10
And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

II Corinthians 4:16-17

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. (When it seems as if today's strength, patience, and resolve is gone, He will renew it all tomorrow for us.) For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen (the dishes, the laundry, the never-ending projects, the toys on the floor, and the un-vacuumed floor), but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Thank the Lord He takes care of us every day.
