although i am not big on the whole "princess" thing, i bought this book at the homeschool convention. when my sunday school teacher had taught some lesson about purity, he read this book and i knew i would purchase it. if you have young daughters - whether they are into princesses or not, i would recommend this book.
it's call the princess and the kiss: a story of God's gift of purity by jennie bishop. the story begins with a king & queen who have a daughter. on the day of her birth, God gives the royal couple a special gift to give to their daughter - her first kiss. they kept it for her while she grew up. when she was grown, they presented her with the special gift (the first kiss) to keep or give away as she saw fit. however, the king warned her to save it for the man she would marry and never part with it for the sake of a stranger.
after a while, suitors soon started showing up. the first suitor was prince peacock, who was very strong, fast and very confident in himself. the princess turned him away knowing there was no room in his heart for her kiss. the second suitor was prince romance. he came bringing roses & chocolates and promising to take her to many far off places. every day would seem like a honeymoon. however, the princess turns him away knowing the prince would lose interest in her kiss. the third suitor was prince treasurechest (good name!). he brought the princess many fine gifts and promised her the best money could buy. the princess sent prince treasurechest away knowing her kiss would not be special among his many riches.
the princess was getting discouraged and wondered if her prince would ever come. the queen told the princess she thought God would bring her a husband but if He did not, the kiss would belong to her to treasure forever. the princess was comforted by the thought because she knew God could be trusted.
one day a common man came to the castle and asked to see the princess. everyone wondered who he was, but the king and queen allowed him to talk to the princess. when the farmer talked to the princess, he told her he worked in her father's fields for years. he prayed, watched and waited for the one who could be his wife, but found no one. he sees the princess one day and saw her beauty and purity. he tells the princess he is not as strong as many, has no gold, and no means to travel but he does a have one very special gift he can give her.....
...his first kiss
God had given his parents this special gift when he was born and they kept it for him
until he became a man. the farmer had saved his kiss for her and asked her to marry him. she joyfully accepted the proposal. on the day of their wedding, they stood before the alter in the royal church and exchanged their first kisses.
