my friend, k, told me about a $1 flip flop sale at old navy. it started today at 9 a.m. i made plans a couple of days ago to go to it. we have swim lessons on saturday morning so i had to make sure i could fit it in the morning.
our plan of attack:
- wake up and eat breakfast by 7:30 a.m. done.
- shower and get the kids dressed in their swimsuits by 8:15 a.m. done.
- get out of the door with the movies i have to return, the checks i have to take to the bank and the poster's i'm going to laminate at mardels by 8:30 a.m. done.
- go to redbox and return the movies by 8:40 a.m. done. (i love redbox - don't you?)
- go to bank - oops they don't open until 9 a.m. this will have to wait until after old navy.
- get to old navy by 9 a.m., since we don't do the bank errand we are old navy by 8:50 a.m. done.
hmmm... there seem to be people in line at old navy. i guess we'd better get out of the car instead of wait in it until 9 a.m.
there are already - and i'm not exaggerating - about 200 people in line already.
a worker is coming out to tell us we can only get 5 pairs of solid flip flops for a $1 each. she emphasizes "no running or pushing!"
alrighty.....
"kids, hold on to mommy's shirt and don't let go!"
they open the doors at 9 a.m. and it's not so bad going in. we went straight to the kids section and got each of my kids 2 pairs of flip flops. we get a friend of mine a pair and then head to the check out line. i had to wait about 10 minutes in line but it wasn't too bad either. we are in and out in 20 minutes. i saw my cousin, j, driving in as we left. she said it took her 45 minutes.
we head to the bank, which is now open. after the bank we head to swim lessons. my son swam for the first time by himself. they said he is ready to move up to beginners II. the kids take showers and change clothes. we head to mardels to buy some birthday presents for my nieces and laminate some posters.
oh yeah, on may 30th, mardels will be having their home education curriculum 20% off. all alpha omega products only 15% off.
now we are home, have eaten lunch, and are in rest-time. and now i am going to take advantage of this rest-time and take a little nap.
happy memorial day friends.
oh, my daughter just came in here and told me she had a dream last night about some angry eyebrows. what does that even mean?

It was SO miserable in that store. I was sweating more than I think I ever had in my entire life. Not to mention I was carrying Evie since they were out of carts! It COULD have been worse, but it COULD have been better. All and all, I don't regret the trip! Thanks for the info!
You've seen the Veggie Tales show about Larry Boy and the Angry Eyebrows, right?
I saw your O.N. flip-flop event on Facebook, and wanted to go today, but couldn't. I can't believe people want them so bad as to wait in line so early in the morning! The whole story of the people getting trampled on Black Friday last year has me too scared to do that. I'm glad you got them and that everyone was safe. = )
i have not seen larry boy and the angry eyebrows yet - make so much more sense now! thanks!
i do the whole wake up at 4 a.m. on the day after thanksgiving - it's fun. i'll have to re-post one of my notes from facebook about that on here so you can see what it was like for my sister and me. you gotta try it once - with no kids but with a good friend or relative.
