funny little stories

just a couple of funny things my daughter said this past week.

i don't have varicose veins but you can see veins on my legs - more like my skin is more translucent than most. also when you speak to my daughter, she takes what she hears and then puts her own spin on it.

"mommy, what are those lines on your legs?" my daughter sweetly asks.

"they are veins. everyone has them all over their body.", i replied.

she then raised her arm and examines it. she doesn't see the veins on her arm like she sees on my legs.

she says, "see mommy??? i don't have any brains!"

the other thing happened on tuesday night. i was making the sopapilla cheesecake for cinco de mayo. of course you all know, i am not a master in the kitchen. my daughter was standing on the kitchen chair "helping" me.

i guess my cheesecake was too cold because the mixer (old-school mixer not the fancy kitchenaid mixers) was having a hard time and making strange noises. all of the sudden, my mixer just gave out and started smoking. my daughter is asking me what happened, i am concerned i am not going to get the cheesecake mixed well enough, and i am mildly concerned about seeing actual smoke.

my daughter says, "well i guess you will have to buy daddy a new mixer. what will he make our pancakes with???"

4 years old and she knows who uses most of the small appliances in our kitchen and yeah - i have to go to wal-mart tonight and get a new mixer for the officer so he can make pancakes (which he does every sunday for the kids that he does not work).
