I realized today while sitting at Chick-Fil-A with my daughter that I used to think it Chick-Fil-A was spelled C-H-I-C-(no "K")-F-I-L-A. Like "chic" as in girl and not "chick" like as in "chicken". No one ever pointed it out to me on my blog either.
I love it when one of my children starts acting out a "scene" and the other one picks right up and goes with it.
I have realized this week that I still need to work on my patience. If you know me, don't laugh! I have done better this week with patience, but I have oh such a long way to go.
It has been confirmed that we have a lot of great friends who have stepped up in this time when we need a little extra help.
I have realized the officer really doesn't like being idle. Poor guy. This nice weather is killing him.
I went on my first bike ride with the kids today. The officer got me bicycle earlier this year. It even has a huge, gel seat on it. The officer had lower the seat all the way to the bottom so I could reach the ground. Of course my knees were hitting the handlebars, but it worked. I am just trying to remember how to ride since it's been at least 20 years since I've ridden one.
It was funny because my children handled it totally different. Before I even got on the bike, my son was trying to tell me all the rules about riding the bike. Wear a helmet, don't use the front brakes, don't ride in the grass because it's harder. He was getting frustrated with me because I was "not listening to him". He said, "I quit on teaching you." Of course as I rode more he couldn't help it but to try to teach me more. He wanted me to know what to do and to be safe.
On the other hand, my daughter was just excited I was riding with her. She kept looking back at me and saying, "Mom, you're doing a good job!!!" She stayed right with me the first couple of laps encouraging (like I'd never ridden a bike before and I guess to them I didn't really exist until about 8 years ago) me the whole time. They were both really sweet in their own way.
Last night I laid down with my daughter. Here are some tidbits from our conversation.
My daughter still wants to have 15 kids. She told me of a couple of names she has in mind: Jackie for a girl, Kollyn for a girl, Airblower for a girl or boy, and Me for a girl or boy. Yep "Airblower" for a girl or boy. I asked her why did she want to name her child "Airblower"? She replied, "So if I need anything blown up Airblower can just.." and then pantomimed blowing up a balloon. I confirmed if she also meant "Me" as in her specific name or "Me" as in "Me." She said, "Me" as in "Me". Maybe she'll change her mind when she gets older. Let's hope so for little Airblower's sake.
She wants to be a veterinarian and a Sonic carhop (only the kind that wears roller skates) when she grows up. She will have her veterinarian office at her house so she can work from home. She will live next door to us. This works out well for her because they have a pool. When people bring their dolphins in to get help, the dolphins can just wait in the pool. She will put up a sign that she will not take care of snakes though. Apparently there are limits people.
She wants to see that movie "Pickle-O Me" again. Have you seen it? It's that movie about that villain who adopts three young girls so they can steal a shrink gun from another villain. The main villain also has many little, yellow minions with one or two eyes. I like hearing her say it. She means "Despicable Me", but says "Pickle-O Me".
This past week I had the opportunity to watch a baby for a couple of days. My daughter could not get enough of her. Everywhere the baby was, that's where my daughter was. She wanted to feed her, hold her, and play with her. She never got tired of having her around. I'm sure she'll be a great mother to her 15 children someday. Sigh.
Okay that's it for now. I hope you have a great weekend!
