origami fun!

my daughter's birthday party is coming up next weekend. it's a korean-inspired party. however, i can't find a lot of "korean" activities to do so i am having to make due. i have been learning a little bit of origami. there are several websites that have instructions and videos to show you how. the one i liked best is origami-fun.com. they had great instructions i was able to print and if i got stuck they had a video on how to do each piece.

i bought some origami paper at hobby lobby (yes using my 40% off coupon). the kids have even gotten into it. here's some things i have made - i'll grant you they are not the neatest looking things, but it's a start.

a crane

a samurai hat

a box

this is my daughter's crown - i think she did a good job.

i am having trouble making a lotus flower and a candy dish without tearing it, but i'll keep on trying. maybe by the time my daughter's party rolls around i'll have one made.

Very neat! I have wanted to try this, but just haven't yet.
