my cub scout

my son started cub scouts with his dad this year. it's something the officer had wanted to do with him. we are in a den with a group of boys who my son does not have a lot in common with; however, i think he is still really enjoying it. probably because it's something he gets to do with his dad.

their latest project was to make a birdhouse. they were given a kit. the officer helped my son, but my son did the majority of the work.

he had to sand all the pieces of wood.

they used screws to put it together.

to finish it off my son painted it "camo". he did ask me if i thought the birds would be able to find the camo birdhouse. here's his finished birdhouse.

my son also completed all the tasks to receive his bobcat patch. tuesday night they went to their pack meeting and i believe all his den received their bobcat patches. when they receive their patch the fathers also receive a little bobcat pin they can wear. they put colored marks on the cub scout's face and each color represents something. i can't remember it all. my son was very happy though.
