This week on the island

Is it Friday already? Where has the week gone? I am trying to think back to Sunday and what all we have done.

Sunday was a nice day. We went to church and ate lunch with my mom and Papa Bill. We stayed there until we had to go to church that evening. It was a nice, relaxing time just spent chatting with them. I can't remember the last time when it was just our family, Grandma and Papa.

Monday morning I had a doctor's appointment. Always fun to go to. Monday afternoon the kid had their 6 month dentist appointments. Bad news my daughter. She had a small cavity. This meant a return trip this week for a filling.

Tuesday night the officer took our daughter on a daddy/daughter day. They spent the night at Grandma's cabin. I think they stayed up late watching, Beethoven. They got up on Wednesday morning at ate breakfast at a local diner.

They took the boat out for trial run to make sure it's making it through this mild winter. The officer let our daughter drive the golf cart around the little lake neighborhood - Lord help us in about 10 years. :)Wednesday, I took my son to Homeschool P.E. We really love our P.E. class. Both kids have several friends in there, as do I. After P.E., I took my son to the ninja store. That's what he calls it. We were price checking new head gear and sparring pads. He's actually outgrown his. He's had his sparring gear since he was five. We went home and much to his dismay finished up school. Oh yeah, my son tried Flaming Cheetos for the first time. He loves them. He is starting to develop a taste for hot foods.

Thursday, my daughter had soccer practice. It was so cold. It wasn't as cold in the beginning of the day but the wind picked up and the sun started to go down. Practice only lasted 30 minutes, but no one was sad about that.

Today, my daughter's dentist appointment was for 8 a.m. I had made it that early in hopes that her mouth wouldn't be numb by lunchtime and she would be able to eat. Let me just say this homeschool family is not used to being out in the general public at 8 a.m. We were dressed and left at 7:40 a.m. I know millions and millions of people around the world do this. I am not sure how I would function if this was an everyday thing. I'm sure I would become addicted to coffee (with lots and lots of Coffeemate Caramel liquid creamer).

My daughter was a trooper at the dentist. They put on a "pig nose" gas mask. We realized she wasn't really getting any of the gas because she was breathing through her mouth and not her nose. Once she started breathing through her nose, the gas started to take effect. It never made her act loopy or silly, just sleepy. The dentist cleaned out her cavity but she started to feel it, so he gave her a shot. That needle was long, but she didn't feel a thing. She did great.

Tomorrow we have a birthday lunch to attend and then starts a whole new week. The kids are excited because they each get to go spend a couple of days at Grandma & Papa with the sunglasses by themselves. My son will go first for a couple of days and then my daughter will go during the last part of the week. It's strange when they are not around - not quite complete and much quieter.

Well that's about all that's going on around this island. Hope you are having a good week!
