My super sweet friend, Becky, gave me the best bread making kit. It included a loaf pan, 3 packets of quick rise yeast, and three of her bread recipes.
Once recipe was for banana bread. The second recipe was for cinnamon swirl bread. The last recipe was for homemade bread (baguette)- with yeast and everything!
I was nervous to try to make the homemade bread. Luckily Batgirl offered to help me. How can it go wrong?
I was reading the recipe, thinking to myself, "Okay I can do this." However, I read the last paragraph. It said to "throw ice cubes into oven, shut it quick, then don't open it for 15 minutes." What?? I've never heard this before. See it's things like these that make me not believe people when they say, "It's so easy!" I called Ms. Becky on the phone and she said I didn't have to do it, so I didn't.
The other problem I ran into is the recipes said 3-4 cups of flour. I don't like that. Just give me the exact measurement and I can do that. This thing where you have to decide how much is really for the people who know what they are doing. Not me.
It worked out just fine. I could taste the dusting of flour I had to use so it wouldn't stick to my counter top, but it turned out great. I didn't even get a picture of the finished products because it went straight into our mouths. Bread fresh from the oven is heavenly! :) So a picture of Batgirl with the bread before we put it into the oven will have to do.
