I haven't written a "this week on the island" post in two months. I thought I would catch you up to what has been going on the island.
I haven't written much this past month because I started a coupon page on Facebook and have done several coupon classes. It has taken up a lot of time. I have thoroughly enjoy it. Although it has been summer time, school still continued on the island. At the end of summer, people would ask my children "Are you ready for school to start?" They would reply, "We're homeschooled, we never stopped." They didn't think a thing about it. Until people kept asking them. I finally had to tell them during the summer most kids do not go to school, they are heading back to school now. I still don't think the quite grasp what it means because school all year around is just the way it has been. Don't get me wrong, we take days to go to the lake, the zoo, the science museum, and have playdates. School is scaled back; however, it is still a priority during the summer.
However, we are in full swing of the "school year". We are back to our regularly scheduled program. We have gymnastics, tae kwon do, cub scouts, soccer, and homeschool co-op. We enjoy it and wouldn't have it any other way.
My cousin, Julie, came over this past weekend and painted on my son's wall. She's very artistic and does beautiful work. She has a website, Ocean Graphic Design and does all kinds of cool things. Check her out. About a month ago, I asked her to paint the five tenants of tae kwon do on canvases and the words "Tae Kwon Do" on my son's wall. She did some beautiful work. I will insert pictures later when we get the canvases hung on the wall.

I going to admit I am kind of addicted to Pinterest. It's a virtual pinboard. When you find things on the Internet you love, you can "pin it" to your pinboard. It is what motivated me to start on decorating my son's room and my daughter's room. I am trying some craft projects I found on Pinterest too. It's been a lot of fun.
This past week we took a day to go to the lake. The weather has cooled off quite a bit and we wanted to take advantage of the nice weather. We went to the Toy & Action Figure Museum in Pauls Valley. For some reason, I thought it was free. It wasn't. We went in anyway. It was very neat. Very geared toward boys. They had a TON of Batman, Superman, Marvel Comic figures, DC figures, GI Joes, and Star War toys. They had a neat area where you could dress up in costumes and play with some of the toys. They had a very small doll house and a few Barbies tucked away in the corners for the poor sisters who were dragged along.
After the Toy Museum, we went to the lake. It was a perfect day to be on the boat. It was a little chilly to swim, but the kids did anyway. It was nice to just get away and relax.
On the way home, we stopped at Arbuckle Mountain Fried Pies to eat dinner. The last time the officer and a friend went fishing, they stopped and ate fried pies. The officer brought a couple home for us to try, but they mysteriously disappeared before we were able to try them. So we stopped for fried pies. The kids split a pizza fried pie and a chocolate fried pie. The officer had a chicken and vegetable fried pie and a cherry fried pie. I ordered a breakfast fried pie and a pecan pie fried pie (that sounds redundant). They were good, but something didn't sit well with out kids. At 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., our children were up with upset stomachs. No more pizza fried pies for them. :)
We went to our first day of homeschool co-op last week. The kids loved it. We have changed locations, but I think it's going to work out great. It is nice they are making new friends.
I have a coupon class this weekend. I think there are 17 people coming (picture me chewing on my fingernails). I usually like my classes smaller, around 10 people or less. However, I am excited about teaching new people how to save money!!
So that's all. I'm going to try to get better about posting because I can't even remember what all we did this summer because I didn't blog during the summer. :(
I hope you had a great summer!!!
