tomorrow is my 10 year anniversary with the officer. he took off of work so we could spend the day together. he also took off work today so we could spend a family day together. we thought since we will have friday together, we will celebrate our 10 year anniversary with our small family too.
we were trying to think of things we could do. we decided to go see a movie. the only movie the kids have ever seen in a theater is veggietales - the pirates who don't do anything. they loved the experience. since there aren't any other movies they can watch in the theater (we have to see them first and let's face it that's too expensive. we wait until the dvd comes out), we thought toy story and toy story 2 would be perfect. they have seen toy story (1) once and toy story 2 many times. it's being shown in high definition and 3-d. they show both movies at one time and there's a 10 minute intermission between the movies.
we arrived at the mall early. we ate lunch (even scored a "car" table) and walked around the mall until the movie started. since the movie was "digital" and 3-d it was more expensive than a regular movie. i did not know this. it was $10/adult and $9/child. more than we had anticipated but this is a rare family experience so we decided to go ahead. the theater used to let you bring outside drinks in, but no longer. we had a restroom stop, and then purchased a large popcorn and drink (the large sizes have free refills), and a box of whoppers. the kids drank water and we got extra water cups so they could fill them with popcorn.
since we had to share the popcorn and drink, we set it between us and put a child on on the other side of us. it worked out great. the ticket taker gave us our 3-d glasses. they looked like regular glasses, not those paper red/blue 3-d glasses. the kids loved wearing them - so did i. the 3-d glasses fit right over the officer's glasses so that worked out great too. i was worried about how that would work out for him. we have 3-d glasses that came with our journey to the center of the earth movie, but he can't wear them.
when toy story started it was immediately evident that the kids loved the 3-d. the movie looked very, very cool in 3-d and everything was so clear. i loved watching the kids watch the movie. it was great to hear my son's laughter or hear my daughter yell "HE GOT IT!" when buzz lightyear caught the tether on the moving truck as they were trying to escape scud. they did great through the whole movie (a whole 2 hours and 49 minutes).
after the movie, we took them my mom's for a couple of nights. tomorrow we get to eat at yamata's (japanese steak house where they cook the food in front of you!) and just spend the day together.
it's very quiet in my house right now with no music playing in the kids room, or hearing "mom! i can't sleep!" i may even get to sleep in until 8 a.m.! yeah!
i'm trying to complete a post about my husband to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. i don't know if i will get if finished by tomorrow since we will be spending the day "out" together. so i'll post it when i can. have a great weekend - i know i am!
