where did the tv go??? bring back the 80s music!

i went to the library today to pick up some reserves i had ready. i love the library! before i homeschooled, i did not even realize you could put books on reserve. i have the whole metropolitan library at my disposal. of course, since i have learned how to download books to my mp3 player, my life has changed. okay maybe an exaggeration, but not much of one. i have really enjoyed listening to it right before i fall asleep.

anyhow, i picked up a cd called "now that's what i call music: the 80s"! first, let me give you a little back story.

growing up we did have a television... for a little while. at some point during my junior high years, my mom decided we should not watch it anymore. she moved the television to the shed. i must confess, when we three girls got home from school we would haul the television into the house to watch days of our lives. after it was over, we would carry it back out to the shed before my mother got home from school. i do not know if she ever knew we did this. she does now. at some point the television disappeared from the shed. i do not know if my mother found out what we were doing and then got rid of it or if she just decided to get rid of it on her own. when the officer and i first got married, we lived in the house that i grew up in. at some point, the officer had to go under the house (maybe to set out mouse poison), and he found TWO televisions there. i guess my mother decided to put them under the house to dispose of them. not once, but twice. it was a good spot, we had never found them.

since we had no television during my years in junior high and high school we listened to the radio a lot. i am not a music expert, but i really enjoy it. getting this "now that's what i call music: the 80s" and listening to it has thrown me back to 1985. it has songs like billie jean by michael jackson, girls just want to have fun by cindi lauper, jesse's girl by rick springfield, and don't you forget about me by simple minds. it also has wake me up before you go-go by wham. i loved wham back in the day. it was the first cassette tape i had ever received and i wore that thing out! of course, i remember many heart wrenching renditions of total eclipse of the heart by bonnie tyler in front of the mirror with a brush in hand. also many nights in bed listening to every breath you take by the police and heaven by bryan adams wishing i had a boyfriend (although thank the Lord i only had one during those 6 years).

ahhh good times. good memories!!!
