get to know me a little

okay if you read the title of this blog you may wonder where i got it from. my name is treasure. yes, it really is treasure - my true legal name. many people ask me why my mom named me this. she had told me she heard a mother call her daughter by that name and she liked it. when she adopted me (another story i will post on here sometime) she changed my name from myung ae park (my korean name) to treasure.

so... there i am with my unique name trying to think of a name for a blog. i have blogged for a while, but only on myspace & facebook. my friend started her blog recently and came up with such a cute name for her's, i tried to think of a good name for my possible new blog. i started with my name. treasure. hmmm... i thought back to all those funny things people used to say about my name. treasure chest. maybe not. treasure island. i can possibly work with that. treasure..... that's about all people ever said when they heard with my name. i tried treasure's island, but that was already taken. i settled on the adventures on treasure's island. i think it fits quite well with my life.

i may take a couple of posts from my facebook and myspace that i've already written to catch you up on my life. for right now, here is one of the posts that is about 8 random facts about me. you've likely already read these but it's a start. i am too tired from painting our walls to come up with something new so here goes with the old.

8 random facts about me

1. i do not like eyeballs. i really don't know the origin of this - i wouldn't call it a fear. i don't like to see any kind of operations on eyeballs. i don't like it when people flip their eyelids up or pulll their eyelids down (which my kids love to do). i know they are completely necessary but i think they are absolutely disgusting.

2. i do not like to touch raw meat. can't even remember if i ever have. my mom tried to get me to make meatloaf once but i couldn't squish the raw meat. i don't cut up raw meat either because the sound is just disgusting. maybe you are wondering how/if we eat meat. we do, but my officer cuts up any meat we need or i buy it that way.

3. this one kind of goes along with the raw meat thing, but i hate (yes a strong word but it does apply) fat on meat. i gag when i get a piece of it in my mouth. my officer LOVES the fat and eats it up. i especially hate the little piece of fat on the chicken leg that is always there - that's why i don't eat chicken legs.

4. this is another one that goes along with the whole meat thing. it's the trifecta. i DO NOT eat meat off the bone. partly because you could eat some fat in there but also because there are always veins and such - okay just gagged a little while i was writing/thinking about it all. let's move on.

5. i like to have my house clean before i go to bed at night. this doesn't always happen, but if i don't do it i just lay in bed thinking about all the stuff laying in the kitchen sink and on the floor in the living room.

6. i really am much better about this but i used to have to have everything match in my house, i.e. my colors used to be hunter green & maroon in my house and i HAD to have the same color of hangers in my closet even. can't stand wire hangers. i'm better now - have all different kinds of plastic hangers in my closet now.

7. i do not like sweat. i don't mind sweating. however, like when i see my officer working outside and sweat is just dripping off of him it grosses me out. sometimes he trys to wipe it on me and that will send me over the edge. my own sweat i can deal with but other people's (even my lovely kid's) i cannot take!

8. i thought it would be harder to get to eight. i am pretty obsessed with the wallflowers from bath & body works. once again i am getting better at this, but at the time of this survey i have 16 boxes of refills for my wallflowers in my linen closet! i only buy when the 1/2 price or on sale for $5 (i.e. which they usually are the day after thanksgiving). i have so many because i have several different scents for each season. actually the whole bath & body works store is a bad place for me to go into.
