this week on the island.....

this week has been a good week!!!!

i can't even remember the start of it now that i am trying to remember. i'll skip to the good parts then. :) my friend, j, had a baby on thursday. my sweet mom watched the kids overnight so i could leave early in the morning to go visit j, one of my oldest and closest friends. the officer picked up the kids after work so i was able to stay all day with my friend. it was so nice to be able to be with her, her family, and new baby.

the officer left yesterday to go on a fishing trip with one his oldest friends. i'm glad he's getting a little fishing time - even though he hardly ever catches anything.

i decided to have just a couple of girls over. one of them couldn't make it, but one came AND she came bearing cupcakes with chocolate chip cookies in the middle of them. can you imagine? well i couldn't, but let me tell you they were delicious. she may have left 4 (one for each member of our family) when she went home, and i can say there are 3 left. not sure of the one for the officer will still be here by the time he gets home from fishing. anyhow, we had planned on watching you've got mail, but you know how girls are. we started talking and that was the end of it. :) i always enjoy hanging out with her because she's super sweet. you know, a constant reminder of how i should be. she loves her family and always desires to follow God.

this morning, we decided to get out even though it's the tax-free weekend. we went to a local mall that was having a lego city skyline building event. i meant to bring my camera, but forgot it so there are no pictures of it. we each built a building for the skyline. i don't really know what my daughter's "building" was, but my son had a great time building his and then helping me with mine. we walked around the lego store for a while and then picked up a free lotion from bath & body works. you can get your own coupon for a free lotion this weekend here.

after the mall, we decided to go eat lunch. i had a gift card to chili's i got for my birthday that we decided to use. my son was very excited to order for himself. after we ate our lunch, we ordered chili's chocolate molten cake for us all three to share.

it looks small in this picture, but it wasn't. it was just enough for all of us. it's has the chocolate cake with the middle filled with chocolate syrup. the vanilla ice cream is on top topped off with magic shell chocolate. i had to scramble to get some because they kids devoured it. although my daughter made sure she divided some cake and ice cream aside for me so i could have some. after it was eaten, i was telling the kids that i didn't think i could have eaten it all by myself and i was glad we all shared it. i asked my son if he thought he could have eaten it all. he said, "well i could have but i would have had a bad tummy ache, so i wouldn't have eaten it all." i asked my daughter the same questions. she just had a big smile on her face and nodded yes, she could have eaten it all by herself.

now we are home and mommy is ready for a nap. the kids are in my son's room building their own lego city. don't you just love legos? they use their imagination, fine motor skills, and creativity when they play with them.

the officer should be back tonight and we will all head to church together tomorrow. i'm looking forward to it. hope you have a great weekend blog friends.
