the FUN day

we called today "the FUN day". the day's name was given by my son. yesterday he asked the officer and i if we could have a FUN day where they would be the "grown-ups" and we would be the "kids". they would pick out our clothes, and make our meals. i told my son he would have to pick one chore for the day to do. he chose to keep the front room clean. my son was especially excited about the FUN day. in fact, this morning he came running into our room (daughter was already in our bed. she had snuck in at some point during the night unbeknown to us.) and said, "i'm so excited, today is the FUN day!"

after they woke up us and they picked out our clothes. my son was waiting and waiting for this. last night he started telling the officer last night that he was going to have to wear a tie, a nice shirt, and nice pants. the officer was resisting this idea because he had to work on his dirt bike, but because he said he would do it, the officer agreed to wear the clothes a certain amount of time. so here's the clothes my son picked out for him (oh that's a veggietales tie in case you were wondering). my clothes were boring but comfortable, a cub scout t-shirt and my jean shorts.

they made us bowls of frosted flakes and toast.

my son kept the front living room clean and somehow he did his schoolwork without complaining about it being FUN day. we had ham sandwiches and chips for lunch made by them. it was a little heavy on the mayo, but still yummy!

there was a time when my son quit being the "grown-up" because he didn't think it was as fun as he thought it would be. more work than he thought i guess.

it was nice outside tonight so we played in the front yard with the neighbors. some of the neighbors across the street gave my kids and our next door neighbors some big water guns. even the officer got in on that action! it was a good way to end the FUN day.

Reminds me of Easter, when the kids hid the eggs and the adults searched for them. What fun! Mom
