we went to the zoo today with some friends. fyi - don't ever just pay for the tickets into the zoo. before you pay, go into the guest relations area. they have a stand with a lot of brochures in it. find the brochure for the zoo and you will see a coupon on the back of it for $2 off adults & $1 of children.
we had a great time. we walked around and saw a lot of the small animals. it was hot out there there today and i was surprised to find out later that it was only 85 degrees.
we ate lunch in the food canopy. i told my kids we were going to use the restroom before we left the air-conditioned place. my daughter went into the stall and two seconds later she said, "i don't need to go!" i said, "you didn't even pull down your pants and try?" "how do you know?", she replied. she's still amazed i know things even though i can't see her. i just let her be amazed. we got to see the turtles up close and intimate. when i say intimate, i mean two of them were mating! my son said, "i don't think that one turtle likes wrestling with that other turtle." i said, "move along, nothing to see here."
after lunch, we went to the big playground to let the kids run around some more. it never fails, my son informs me he has to go the bathroom again. of course, he did go last time we went to the restroom. i took him to the nearest restroom. the toilets were automatic. when he was using the restroom, the toilet flushed 12 times on him. he yelled, "i think i picked the wrong toilet!" i told him to stop wiggling around. it took him forever because the flushing toilet kept distracting him. finally he finished and went back to the playground and guess what??? that's right - my daughter had to go then too. oh well.... that's what having kids are about right?
after the zoo, i decided to treat the kids to some ice cream to help cool off. they had played hard at the playground. i saw in the buy 4 less ad they had blue bell pint ice cream on sale for .88 cents. this is cheaper than a slush or icee. we stopped by buy 4 less and i let the kids pick out their own pints.
yummmmmmmmy son picked cake batter, my daughter picked mint chocolate chip and i picked moo-linium crunch. my daughter didn't really know what she got, she picked it out for the pretty green container. we went home and ate our delicious treat. my daughter exclaimed, "i wish we lived in ice cream land, where we could eat ice cream until we got tummy aches!" not a bad day today!!!

Sounds like a GREAT day!! Mint chocolate chip is my very favorite ice cream! As long as I can remember, I have always liked it.
seriously....you are so smart! thanks for money-saving tips.
We went to the zoo the other day as well. We bought the grandmothers pass, which was $80 but I split the cost with Grandma. Gets in 3 adults and 5 kids for free for a full year, plus like 40 tickets toward tokens for rides and stuff! We have used it three times all ready and it's paid for itself. I agree TOTALLY too hot out there though.
