We have had a great week. What about you?
A family friend, Reiko, flew in from Norway last Tuesday. She was an international student at a local collage who lived with my mom about 10 years ago. When my son was much younger, he loved her. She was quiet and sweet. Her flight came in around 10 p.m. on Tuesday night. I decided to take my son out there to meet her flight. My mom and Papa Bill where there to pick her up. You can tell from the pictures below it's been a while since we've seen her; however, Reiko looks exactly the same. It was a late night, but so fun to see her arrive.
On Thursday, the officer's parents came down to spend some time with the kids. The officer and I met my mom and Reiko at the mall for a little bit of shopping. Afterward, we went to my house so my mom could relax a little bit. The officer took Reiko for her first motorcycle ride. She loved it. The officer did say there was a bit of a difference between Reiko riding (who was relaxed and enjoying the scenery) and taking me riding (who had a death grip on the backrest). In fact my fingernails are probably still in there. We hot her a Harley Davidson t-shirt. She wore it on Sunday to show Papa Bill (who prefers airplanes) her new hobby.
Another awesome part of our week was attending the Defining Moments at Henderson Hills Baptist Church on Good Friday. We went last year and I want to make it yearly tradition. It shows you the "defining moments" of Jesus's journey to the cross and his resurrection. You read scriptures and the Easter story as you go through each section. They have a coloring book for smaller children, a 1st - 4th grade booklet for older children and then an adult booklet. You can read more about it and see pictures from when we went last year here.
Sunday we went to church with my mom and Papa Bill.
After church, all of the family came over for lunch. The weather was awesome and the afternoon filled with delicious food, Easter egg hunts for big and little kids, and a puppet show. Some of the kids went all out to get all the eggs.
On Tuesday, we met my mom and Reiko for lunch at the Korean restaurant. The food was so good. It always is. Reiko stayed the afternoon with us and went to tae kwon do with us.
On Wednesday, we met my mom and Papa Bill at the airport to see Reiko off. She's on her way back to Norway for another year and a half before going back home to Japan. I'm so glad we were able to spend time with Reiko while she was here.
