guess what they are doing

can you guess what my kids are doing?

i went into my daughter's room to see what they were up to and this is what i found. i heard them talking and creeped back out to grab my camera.

my kids love to play with stuffed animals. they imagine they are at tae kwon do classes, school, or house all the time. every so often one of the stuffed animals gets a small rip or an arm or leg comes off and you know who has to sew them. that's right, the officer does it with his spiffy foldable military scissors i'm not allowed to touch or use.

anyhow, he mends all stuffed animals (well sometimes so does grandma), but the officer does the trick in a pinch. one of the animals he had to fix was blue monkey. it had lost it's arm. however, the officer decided it was too rotten to fix. blue monkey would have had a significantly shorter arm in order to fix him. we usually throw those animals away, but i guess my son decided to keep him.

back to today, after i took the picture i asked my kids what they were doing.

my daughter replied, "we are having a funeral for blue monkey because he was rotten."

my son added, "yeah he's in the box all taped up. these are his friends." pointing to the wall of stuffed animals.

yep, that's blue monkey along with the indiana jones treasure from my son's birthday party in the "coffin".

the funeral was complete with snoopy playing sad music on the keyboard and all of blue monkey's friends lined up along the wall. more of blue monkey's friends were lined up on the floor. he was well-loved.
