we were there

yep - we were there. we were there at the denny's free grand slam giveaway. we were there by 6 a.m. and the place was already bustling!

we told the kids we were going to eat breakfast out in the morning. we have eaten breakfast out before - at cracker barrel - at 9 a.m - not at denny's at 6 a.m.

the officer set his alarm for 5 a.m. he's used to that - it's what time he gets up for work. i set my alarm for 5 a.m. also. i am NOT used to it. the last time i was up that early was probably black friday shopping! of course i didn't get up until 5:30 a.m. this morning but we did get out of the house by 5:45 a.m. so we were doing good. this did require me taking a shower last night and me pushing the shoes on each of my kids.

my daughter popped up right out of bed, but was groggy. within 10 minutes she was awake and smiling. she is like the officer. my son, on the other hand, was up, but he is like me. he's not a morning person. he prefers to not have anyone talk to him until he's really awake.

we got to denny's at 6 a.m. and the place was already busy! lots of college kid aged kids (did i really just not lump myself into that group???? i know i don't belong in that group anymore - i'm getting old!) started to arrive after we got there.


the officer and kids got hot chocolates. the kids got their junior grand slams (three mini pancakes, eggs, and piece of bacon and sausage each) and we got ours. it was pretty good.

still don't think he's quite awake yet.

by the time we were leaving, there was a line waiting to be seated. we left at 6:45 a.m. and were back to the house in time for the beginning of curious george.

the officer said he was really surprised i was able to get up and in a relatively good mood. i said i think i am only able to be up that early once a year. i didn't know if i would have it in me to wake up that early for black friday shopping this year. who am i kidding - i'll make it. :)
