This week on the island

I honestly can't remember the last time I wrote a "This week on the island" post. I think it was back in May, maybe. It's been a good summer so far, but busy.

The officer took our son to cub scout camp. They left on Father's Day. Fortunately, the officer got his cast off the week before. Even though it was 91 degrees at 11:30 p.m. the first night they were there, they had a great time. A cool front moved in for them the second night. My son loved swimming all four days. He also got the opportunity to target practice and do some archery. They learned about the solar system, fishing, swimming safety, and best of all eat smores!!

While the officer and my son were away at camp, I took the opportunity to put on some coupon classes. I held two classes at my house and another one about an hour away. It was a lot of fun! I love doing those classes. I love teaching others how to save money by using coupons. I think several women got excited about the possibilities for their family.

My daughter was able to spend a couple of days with Grandma with the sunglasses. Always a good time. They hardly even say goodbye to me when I drop them off because they are so excited to spend time with them.

We took the kids to see Despecable Me at the movie theater. We rarely get to do this, but since a local theater had a summer movie program we decided to take advantage. They show 6-8 movies throughout the summer at a discounted price.

The officer took the kids to ride their dirtbikes. Always fun too. The kids are getting much more brave on their dirtbikes. Our son is becoming more and more interested in going fast and making jumps. Can you say, "nervous mommy"???


Yesterday we took the kids to the lake yesterday to play around in the boat and tube. The officer had to meet an air conditioning man for the cabin at the lake. We thought we would take advantage of the trip he had to make and play. Since the officer's cast is gone we can hardly keep him inside - everything is as it should be! :)

I not a huge fan of swimming in the lake where I can't see Jaws coming for me, so we've been swimming in my sister's pool several time this past month too. Anyone understand what I'm talking about?

So aside from playdates with friends and our "summer" activities, we are trying to keep up with school and not let the house get in total disarray!

Sometimes, the house just has to stay a mess and the family time is more treasured.

My birthday is creeping around the corner this weekend. 3-9. Last year in my thirties. I'm going to live it up! :)
