For my birthday this year, my mom gave me two tickets to take my daughter to see the Oklahoma City Theater's The Little Mermaid. We made it into a mommy/daughter night out. We both got dressed up (if you call a denim jacket dressed up) and went downtown to eat dinner before the show.
Within 10 minutes in car, this was my daughter.
Back in February, the officer was supposed to take our daughter to dinner and to see Beauty and the Beast. They ate at Zios downtown then went to see the play. About 10 minutes in, my daughter got sick to her stomach and they had to leave. She was very upset about missing the show. Fast forward six months. I asked my daughter where she wanted to eat. She decided to eat at Earls. She only ordered a small salad and a small bowl of fried okra. After dinner, we headed to Pinkitzel for a little dessert.
We arrived at the Civic Center Music Hall about an hour early.
We were just going to walk around to kill some time, but we decided to go inside to wait.
To my daughter's delight, there were princesses in the lobby. They were signing coloring pages and programs. We stood in line to get pictures with as many princesses we could.
We were in line to take pictures with Snow White when we spotted someone else! Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff from Frozen!!! Princess Tiana, Jasmin, Aladdin, and Peter Pan would all have to wait.
By the time we were finished taking pictures with the Anna, Elsa and Kristoff, it was only 10 minutes until showtime.
The show was great. It took my daughter a little bit of time to realize the musical was a little different than the movie. She did ask me why they sang so much. Overall, she enjoyed it. Her favorite characters Sebastian and Flounder. I liked the show also, but I really enjoyed watching my daughter watch the show.
My daughter did get a little tired by the end of the show. It was way past her bedtime. They had announced before the show began that there would be an opportunity to meet some of the cast after the show. Fortunately for us, they were going to be meeting our side of the theater. We quickly left after the show to get in line to meet whoever would appear. We were able to meet Ariel, Ariel's sister and a fish. An usher took a picture of us with Ariel. Too many people to ask for a second picture.
When we left the Civic Center, my daughter really wanted to run through the "colored water", but decided against it. It was very pretty though.
It was a fun evening. I'm so glad we were able to make this memory. Thank you mom for the tickets.
